By becoming allies with Stark’s chief competitor, Hammer, Blacklash makes life even more difficult for our superhero than it already was.

There are indications in the storyline that Whiplash slash Blacklash somehow tires of the crime scene and wants to get out of the criminal way of life. In the process of getting married and raising a family, Scarlotti does try to turn over a new leaf. However, the past has a way of catching up with anyone such that again and again, he’s forced to take up the Whiplash disguise once more.

It takes a complex supervillain like Whiplash to make a superhero like Iron Man shine to the fullest. Despite being very talented and promising, Scarlotti sabotages his own glorious career by living with so many hang-ups. His parents disown him, the locals shun him, and his so-called friends ridicule him. It’s not easy being Mark Scarlotti so he learns to fight back the only way he knows how, and that’s through sophisticated weaponry.
